Are you a seasoned System Administrator with a strong emphasis on security, network operations, and database administration? We are seeking a talented Senior System Administrator to join our dynamic consulting team, where you will play a vital role in maintaining the security, stability, and efficiency of our customer’s infrastructure.  A minimum of an active TS/SCI U.S.security clearance is required. In addition to these responsibilities, this role has a strategic focus on nurturing candidates into becoming full-fledged Elasticsearch consultants. Comprehensive training in all Elasticsearch solutions will be provided to equip you with the skills and expertise needed to support and assist our valued customers.

What you bring along: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in system administration, network operations, and database administration in a senior or lead capacity.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, including experience with firewalls, intrusion detection systems, access controls, and vulnerability assessments.
• Proficiency in managing network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, load balancers, and VPNs.
• Expertise in database administration across various database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL) including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline operational tasks.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCNA, MCSA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Exceptional communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Active U.S. Federal security clearance - TS/SCI is required (Poly preferred) 

• Ability to be onsite up to 4x per week and local to Chantilly, Reston, or  Springfield VA area (will Consider DC area)

What you will be doing: 

• Developing automated solutions for deploying Elastic stack components (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats) in a repeatable and scalable fashion.
• Working with Ingest and Architecture teams to create deployment roles for all components of the Elastic Stack.
• Monitoring and maintaining Stack and infrastructure performance.
• Comfortable working remotely in a highly distributed team.
• Data modeling, query development and optimization, cluster tuning and scaling with a focus on fast search and analytics at scale
• Solving our customers’ most challenging data problems.
• Working closely with the Elastic engineering, product management, and support teams to identify feature enhancements, extensions, and product defects
• Engaging with the Elastic Sales team to scope opportunities while assessing technical risks, questions, or concerns.
• Mentoring Elastic team members on new technology and solutions.

Bonus Points

• Deep understanding of Elasticsearch and Lucene, including Elastic Certified Engineer certification.
• Strong knowledge of Java and Linux/Unix environment, software development, and/or experience with distributed systems.
• Experience and interest in delivering and/or developing product training.
• Experience contributing to an open-source project or documentation.
• Experience as a technical instructor or public speaker to large audiences on enterprise infrastructure software technology to engineers, developers, and other technical positions.
