Key Accountabilities:
- Legal Advice & Counsel - Provide legal advice and counsel to business units. Develop and present recommendations to business unit representation and assist the implementation of approved solutions.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts for supported business units, with a strong focus on commercial loan documents and day-to-day matters associated with commercial banking and commercial lending.
- Coordinate and complete special projects as assigned.
- Ensure employees are being adequately trained on legal matters and requirements, helping them understand their responsibilities and obligations.
- Identify areas for process improvement and assist in implementing best practices within the business line, first line of defense, and legal department.
- Analyze issues, conduct research and develop recommendations to mitigate legal risk for the supported business units.
- Assess level of risk for services and activities of the business units supported.
- Monitor, research, and interpret regulatory changes, legislative trends, and legislative developments. Provide ongoing and documented guidance as to their impact on products, services, and operations.
- Outside Counsel – Effectively collaborate with and manage external counsel providing legal risk services including the identification of appropriate counsel, contracting with counsel for services and managing the cost of counsel.
- Legal Risk Management – Ensure that assigned business units have access to and utilize available legal risk management services for all third-party relationships.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a transactional lawyer, with strongly desired experience in the financial services industry, specifically consumer banking
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Nebraska or other footprint state (state bar membership required).
- Deep knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to supported business units, including UCC Art. 9.
- Experience in the use of LLMs and GenAI, with a willingness to use and incorporate into daily workstream.
- Extensive research and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Compensation:
Compensation range (base pay): $89,828.00-$148,215.00
