Description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Phlebotomist is responsible for the collection, labeling and transport of nursing home specimens. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

 

Job Functions:

  1. Collection of specimens at the Nursing Home facilities.
  2. Labeling specimens in accordance with accreditation standards.
  3. Store or transport specimens as needed.
  4. Maintains adequate stock of supplies for specimen collection.
  5. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for position – will obtain during hospital orientation.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

  • Interpersonal and basic clerical skills.
  • Ability to read, write and do math as generally demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED.

 

Compensation Details:  Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
