JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park has three part-time Mental Health Counselor positions available beginning August 8, 2025. Hours worked are 16 to 24 hours per week during the academic year only.

Responsibilities include providing short-term individual therapy, phone triage, and urgent assessment/stabilization/follow-up. Supervision is provided for a successful applicant who wants to accrue supervised hours toward licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexual &/ gender diverse students.

All clinicians on our staff perform their duties while adhering to and promoting trauma-informed care and healing-centered approaches and principles, in alignment with the establishment of the Commonwealth of PA as a trauma-informed, healing centered state.

A minimum of a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related discipline is required. Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor, or Psychologist is required. Current licensure as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist is preferred.
