PURPOSE
The Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs is a senior member of the Student Engagement & Success (SEAS) Leadership Team and reports directly to the Vice President for Student Engagement & Success (VPSEAS). Responsible for providing oversight to the SEAS administrative suite; executive support to the VPSEAS; leadership for divisional strategic planning, assessment, & reporting; policies and procedures; communication with the President’s Office and university partners; divisional marketing & communications; divisional awards and recognition programs; divisional associations and affiliations; and assistance to the VPSEAS for divisional resource development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Admin & Operations - 85%
Provides leadership and office management to the SEAS administrative suite; oversees daily operations and directly supervises administrative support staff and student employees.
Provides executive support to the Vice President for Student Engagement and Success.
Assists the Vice President with the development and implementation of the division strategic plan and divisional alignment with the University Strategic Plan.
Lead in the completion of divisional mandated assessment reports such as the Weave Online Detailed Reports, and University and Annual Reports.
Lead in the Division Council for Advancement of Standards (CAS) Program Review and action plans.
Lead in maintaining and updating of policies & procedures for SEAS.
Provides leadership in SEAS participation in Student Affairs related associations & affiliations (e.g., TACUSPA, TCCSAO, NASPA, etc.).
Lead marketing & communication for the division, and supervise marketing & communication staff.
Lead divisional awards and recognition programs (e.g., legacy ring identification, SEAS Student Awards & Leadership, Rising Tides Recognition Program, etc.).
Collaborate with university partners to identify and cultivate external funding opportunities (e.g., state, and federal grants, donors, etc.) to support student support initiatives.
Additional Duties - 15%
Represents the Division of Student Engagement & Success at appropriate activities and functions both on and off campus.
Works effectively with a wide variety of constituent groups including students, university staff, faculty, and the public.
Serves on various division and university committees.
Upholds all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
