Are you ready to pioneer AI solutions that solve the industry's most complex challenges? As the Global Head of Specialized AI, you'll spearhead Covestro's technological revolution, reporting directly to our Chief AI Officer. This strategic role demands an exceptional blend of deep AI expertise and commercial instinct to develop bespoke AI solutions that address our most critical business challenges. You'll orchestrate high-impact AI initiatives across the entire value chain—from operational excellence and product innovation to process optimization and predictive capabilities. We're looking for a visionary leader who can transform sophisticated AI techniques into measurable business outcomes, cultivate an innovation ecosystem, and cement Covestro's position as the AI pacesetter in the chemical industry—directly driving substantial EBITDA growth and sustainable competitive advantage.

In addition to our diverse benefits, you can expect an attractive starting salary between €128.400,00/year and €160.500,00/year plus a variable component for a full-time position. The starting salary is based on your qualifications and professional experience.

With great motivation and full commitment, you will take on the following tasks in detail:

• As Head of the Specialized AI department, you will lead the definition, development, and implementation of cutting-edge AI solutions tailored to specific business challenges across Covestro's global operations

• You will lead several team and high-profile individual contributors

• You will be part of the global AI leadership team, ensuring coherent AI strategy implementation and ethical considerations

• You will create an environment allowing both human and machine intelligences to collaborate and thrive

• You will spearhead the development and implementation of specialized AI models in key areas including computer vision, time series modelling and deep learning

• You will ensure high availability of these models allowing them to be trusted partners for all Covestro

• You will actively engage with external research facilities, universities, vendors, and start-ups to extend the impact of the specialized AI team and maintain Covestro's position at the forefront of AI innovation

• You will expand the internal network and champion specialized AI applications throughout the company, ensuring these solutions become integral components of decision-making and operational processes at all organizational levels

The following points characterize you:

• Advanced degree (preferably Ph.D.) in Math, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a closely related field

• Over 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 8 years in leadership roles in specialized AI domains

• Strong business acumen and results-oriented approach, including the willingness to take calculated risks and the determination to achieve and exceed EBITDA targets through innovative specialized AI solutions

• Demonstrated long-term experience in developing and implementing specialized AI solutions in an international corporate environment, preferably in the chemical or manufacturing industry

• Deep expertise in multiple specialized AI domains such as computer vision, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, and autonomous systems

• Proven track record of leading and scaling AI teams and successfully delivering high-impact AI projects in large organizations

• Open-minded personality and an approachable team player (m/f/d) comfortable with working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts to diverse audiences, including C-level executives

• Fluent English skills, both written and spoken, as well as willingness and ability to travel internationally
