Staff Data Scientist – Advanced Measurement and Research - Walmart Connect

Walmart Connect is key to Walmart’s growth strategy. Walmart has built a ~$3 billion dollar closed loop, in-house advertising business that is a robust, true omnichannel, media services division with WMC. We partner closely with brands on strategies and solutions that harness Walmart’s unparalleled omnichannel influence. We deliver relevant retail ads and experiences that connect our customers with the brands and products they love. And we use Walmart’s proprietary online and in-store data, encompassing 95% of American households, to measure campaign-correlated sales on our site and in our stores.

About the role:

A passionate and innovative leader with deep expertise in media measurement and product strategy. We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist on Advanced Measurement Methodology to shape the future of our organization through data driven insights with solid methodology foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in experimental design for complex use cases in Search and Display marketing, and experience building causal inference models

  • Perform as a measurement thought leader with advanced understanding of media mix, attribution, randomized control testing and other lift solutions for both online and offline channels.

  • Thought leader who has a strong know-how of measurement solutions, ads landscape, and understanding of how the industry is evolving

  • Research ad product metrics, perform product market fit research and develop product strategy

  • Lead team members to deliver impactful analytical projects for stakeholders.

  • Perform hands-on modeling and complex analyses using SQL & Python.

  • Present measurement insights to clients and explain complex modeling approaches in simple terms and develop compelling narratives that connect modeling results with business problems.

  • Build and enhance models to determine the impact of marketing tactics and optimal levels of media budgets.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline data science solutions.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience in positions with a focus on statistics, data science, measurement, marketing strategy & analytics.

  • Experienced in building causal inference models and developing test designs for complex test scenarios.

  • Experienced in product market fit analyses

  • Proficient coding skills (Python/SQL), data visualization and database knowledge.

  • Extensive experience with predictive and machine learning modeling algorithms.

  • Strong communication skills to tell-a-story that provides insight into the business.

  • Strong project management skills, including managing technical resources and multiple priorities & milestones.

  • Proven experience and a passion for working in a fast-paced agile environment.

  • A collaborative mindset and sense of curiosity.

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Operations Research, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or related field.

  • Experience with complete online and in-store media tactics portfolio.

  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.

  • Experience with advertising technology platforms eCommerce, Ad servers, DSPs, DMPs, etc.
