Job Description
Data Assistant, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join our team as a Data Assistant in Health Outcomes service. We are seeking a motivated Data Assistant to provide research assistance in support of faculty members who are appointed in the Health Outcomes Research Group. The position is ideal for individuals who are interested in policy-oriented research and health outcomes. Successful candidates will have some research experience, a demonstrated interest in public health, and an ability to think critically about pertinent research topics.
Role Overview:
- Utilize appropriate methodologies to collect human subject information for a research project, database, and/or protocol.
- Perform comprehensive reviews of published medical literature.
- Create and maintain data files. Designs databases and tools to facilitate data collection and data storage as needed for assigned research projects.
- Analyzes and interprets data from observational research studies, ‘found’ data, public use documents.
- Summarize and communicate analysis results. Compile data and assists in consolidating/ analyzing data for presentation.
- Prepare/transcribe documents for the investigators (s) within established timeframes. Assists in retrieving and submitting articles, copy edits and maintains documents and references.
- Performs and/or responds to queries and/or assist with statistical analyses, as needed.
- Assist in the development and fielding of qualitative data collection methods, such as surveys.
- Assist in drafting and managing grant proposals, reports, and manuscripts for publications.
- Perform data cleaning tasks such as checking for errors, inconsistencies, and missing data, to prepare data for analysis.
- Create tables, charts, and graphs that clearly and accurately summarize research findings.
- Collaborate with PI and research project teams within MSK and external institutions to address research issues by planning, coordinating, and monitoring research activities.
Key Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel required.
- Experience in managing data.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
