Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

As a Production Assistant, you will work closely with the TODAY editorial team and control room teams on the rundown of the broadcast. You will also serve as a resource for vacation and other PTO coverage for essential broadcast positions.

Job Duties:

  • Create Show Rundown and other supporting paperwork.
  • Work directly with control room production team.
  • Working directly with producers on segments.
  • Gathering elements for segments.
  • Have strong editorial judgement.
  • Work with a video editor on the Show Podcast.
  • Send affiliate morning notes.

PLEASE NOTEThis is a short-term position with an estimated duration of 24 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of news production and/or administrative experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite and social media
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news
  • Must be available on weekends
  • Strong interest in news, entertainment, and current events

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of management.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexible, organized, self-starter, and extremely detail-oriented – able to seek out answers and resources on own.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize and juggle numerous projects and deadlines in an extremely fast-paced and high-volume environment.
  • Proactive thinker with understanding of how to apply data.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and on a team.
  • Awareness of NBC News programs, on-air correspondents, policies, guidelines and practices.
  • Knowledge of iNews, AVID Media Central and editing software.
  • Knowledge of Frequency software.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

What we’ll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:  

  • Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months  
  • Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment  
  • Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment  

Salary range: $20-$25/hr
