The vision for the Intelligent Process Orchestration is to become the leading Business Process Orchestration Service within Engagement Banking for Financial Institutions (FIs) around the world. The goal is to be the preferred partner to improve and automate business processes where engagement with the customer is key. Think about onboarding, origination, disputes and other customer servicing processes. And enabled by an event driven architecture and AI technologies.
The job in short
As a Senior Domain Architect, you own the end-to-end architecture for the Intelligent Process Orchestration (IPO) platform. As part of your role, you will work with a range of stakeholders - spanning engineering and product - to design and continuously enhance the current and future product features and supporting architecture.
Your primary objective is together with product owners and engineers in the product teams translate functional and non-functional requirements into a coherent logical and soluton component architecture, accountable for its overall design, supporting the implementation and testing where applicable. You will align the IPO architecture with the teams that are designing and building processes on it, like customer onboarding, product originations and any servicing processes that are part of the product and feedback from the field where additional processes will be built using the platform. You will also help shape product roadmaps which are typically created by product managers and the product director.
You will be responsible to define the non-functional requirements for the functionality in scope: security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and integration. You will play an architecture leadership role in cooperation with the (lead-) principal engineer(s) who are in charge of the solution designs (platform wide solutions and component solutions in teams). So you are part of a winning triangle: product management, architecture and lead engineering.
Meet the job
You'll be responsible for executing on the vision and product requirements of the Intelligent Process Orchestration platform on top of the evolving Backbase platform, taking the functional and non- functional requirements into account. You will be working with fellow Architects in other domains such as Digital Sales, Digital Assist, Digital Banking,Identity etc. to define how we create and evolve the functionality and integration into the wider engagement banking platform. You will collaborate with product stakeholders to influence prioritization in a product-led manner.
You will spend time with our internal and external project implementation teams to understand their challenges, gathering insights into how to solve problems and improve product performance. As the architecture leader, you support the product director with the translation of customer opportunities and pain points into product requirements, creating logical and solution component architecture(s) which are further detailed into solution designs by (lead-) principal engineer(s).

As a senior domain architect you are able to:
- Analyze complex problems by breaking them down into manageable parts and examining them systematically. Independently apply analytical thinking to solve a wide range of problems across different domains;
- Able to establish a relation with applicable stakeholder(s) early in the architecture process, and co-create the deliverable. Review the deliverable with peer architects and lead principle engineers, the architecture oversight group, and govern it during its entire lifecycle;
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, engineering leaders, engineering and implementation teams, and engineering leaders to drive collaboration, alignment, and support for architectural decisions;
- Provides thought leadership and guidance on domain-specific architectural principles, best practices, design patterns, and industry standards. Mentors junior staff, and guides (lead-) principle engineers;
- Collaborating with product management to support the definition of product roadmaps and align architectural decisions with product goals and market demands, and taking non-functional requirements into account;
- Able to advise on strategic initiatives that align with business goals. Und
