About the role
Are you an experienced builder who is tired of chasing deadlines and loves to mentor? Have you worked in startups and want to put your experience to use guiding tomorrow’s unicorns to avoid pitfalls that could ground their rocket ship? Are you passionate about cloud technology and curious to design cutting edge solutions? If you answered a resounding yes, then AWS Startup Solution Architecture is the place for you!
The AWS Startup Solutions Architecture team is dedicated to working with these early stage startup companies as they build their businesses. We’re here to make sure that they can deploy the best, most scalable, and most secure architectures possible and that they spend as little time and money as possible doing so.
We are looking for technical builders who are drawn to working with early to middle stage startups acting as a sage advisor on all things Cloud as they grow. In this role, you’ll work directly with a variety of interesting customers arming them with the knowledge and relationships they need to make the best (and often the most pragmatic) technical decisions along the way. You’ll have a chance to build enduring relationships with these companies and establish yourself as a trusted advisor who truly cares about the successful launch of their rocket ship.
As well as spending time working directly with customers, you’ll also get access to training and development environments to keep your skills fresh and follow your builder curiosity. We have more than 200 services across a range of different categories and there is no better way to ensure we can help startups take advantages of the right ones than taking test drives yourself. You’ll also play an important role as an advocate with our product teams acting as a voice for your customers to make sure we are building the right products that startups need to succeed.
Key job responsibilities
* Engage directly with startup customers to provide them with technical advocacy as they build their products in the cloud. Ensure that they are spending as little time and money as possible doing so
* Create plans, in conjunction with other members of customer account teams, to define how you will help your customers with their cloud needs
* Share your technical knowledge broadly by participating in select, startup-focused, one-to-few and one-to-many sessions with larger groups of customers
* Work with other teams at AWS (e.g. marketing, training) to contribute to the creation of content that can be delivered to the broader startup community at scale (e.g. on-line videos, and other digital content)
About the team
Work/Life Balance
* Our team is focused on balancing life with work, and does this via work autonomy and by prioritizing solutions and processes that enable the success of our customers.
* It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.
Mentorship and Career Growth
* Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship.
* We also encourage curiosity and ownership of self-service learning opportunities within Amazon Web Services’ internal training and certification resources.
Inclusive Team Culture
* Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and we host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 16 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.
