Job Description:
The Geotechnical Assistant Transportation Engineer will perform geotechnical engineering tasks on moderately complex bridge replacement projects, under limited supervision.
Preliminary geotechnical tasks include:
- Overseeing and inspecting subsurface exploration programs,
- Developing lab testing programs,
- Evaluating subsurface conditions,
- Development of bridge foundation alternatives,
- Identification of pertinent geotechnical aspects.
Final design tasks include:
- Completing geotechnical engineering evaluations,
- Preparation of geotechnical design reports and calculation packages,
- Producing specifications and details for geotechnical items
This position will require field work to monitor subsurface exploration programs and to provide support to construction personnel on geotechnical construction activities.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field –OR- non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
Preference will be given to those with geotechnical experience.
