BOKU<p></p>UNIVERSITY<p></p><p></p>The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Institute of Bioprocess Sciences and<p></p>Engineering is currently seeking a 1 Postgraduate Research Associate<p></p>project employment<p></p> (Reference code 144)<p></p><p></p><p></p>Extent of employment: 30 hours per week<p></p>Duration of employment: 15th of August 2026, limited to 31st of December 2028<p></p>Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Muthgasse 18<p></p>Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group:<p></p>B1<p></p>Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 2.832,10<p></p>(payable 14 times per year)<p></p><p></p>Responsibilities<p></p><p></p>º Start your PhD studies at BOKU University and participate one of our doctoral<p></p>programs including lectures, events, workshops and retreats<p></p>º Carry out research project "Understanding protein binding to filter materials used for<p></p>clarification in bioprocesses"<p></p>º Investigation the physio-chemical interaction of proteins with different filter materials<p></p>º Analyzing protein-surface interactions by means of statistical experimentation and<p></p>mechanistic modeling<p></p>º Develop process modifications that reduce unwanted product losses while<p></p>maintaining high particle retention<p></p>º Use the high-throughout methods and a liquid handling station to quickly characterize<p></p>and evaluate protein binding<p></p>º Characterize colloids in plant extracts including host cell proteins and different,<p></p>pharmaceutically relevant proteins using zetapotential, dynamic light scattering and<p></p>microscopic analyses<p></p>Required skills and qualifications<p></p>º Diploma degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science or other<p></p>equivalent university degree<p></p>º English (B2 or better)<p></p><p></p>Desirable skills and qualifications<p></p>º Confidence in communicating and presenting scientific work to colleagues, at<p></p>conferences and to public<p></p>º Experience in writing scientific publications<p></p>º Experience with filtration operations (e.g., depth filtration)<p></p>º Experience with plant expression systems<p></p>º Experience in working recombinant proteins<p></p>º Experience mechanistic modeling of filtration processes<p></p><p></p><p></p>Applications can be submitted until: 6th of August 2026<p></p><p></p><p></p>University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna seeks to increase the number of its<p></p>female faculty and staff members.
