We are seeking Master and/or Ph.D. students interested in complementing their primary expertise with a Digital Internship in Terneuzen (Netherlands). You will be integrated into Research and Development, one of Dow’s key functions. </p><p>We are seeking candidates who have expertise in computer science, analytics, machine learning, and/or other dimensions of data sciences, in addition to expertise in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, polymer science, theoretical modeling, operations management, and/or industrial engineering. </p><p>We are offering project types that span from new capability developments, sustainability and circularity improvements, product and process research, application development, and operations improvements to supply chain optimization. </p><p>You will work with a cross-functional team whose high-level goal is to accelerate the digital evolution of a global leader in the materials industry. You will bring your skills and experience to work with a group of domain experts to accelerate delivery of high priority projects. Goals of the project(s) could include delivering breakthrough sustainable chemistry innovations; advancing on a circular economy; producing better and safer materials; optimizing products and processes to reduce carbon footprint; optimizing planning, scheduling, and value chain to a greener chemistry; and other areas to help Dow reaching ambitious sustainability goals. </p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><p></p><ul><li>Develop and implement automated, integrated digital solutions to improve data integrity, accessibility, and alignment with corporate transformation goals. </li><li>Modernize workflows and enhance security through internally hosted applications that streamline data processing and improve accuracy. </li><li>Optimize operational reliability by analyzing system performance, mitigating risks, and applying strategies to prevent unplanned outages and efficiency losses. </li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><p></p><ul><li>Currently enrolled in a MSc or Ph.D. degree program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, or other related disciplines </li><li>Legally entitled by EU citizenship, by a valid VISA or residence permit, to work in the project country </li><li>Proficient in English </li></ul><p></p><p><b>Your Skills</b></p><p></p><ul><li>Expertise in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, polymer science, theoretical modeling, operations management, or other industrial engineering </li><li>Educated with data science techniques such as machine learning, predictive modeling, its applicability to industry, and potential for value creation </li><li>Demonstrate competency in computer science, data analytics, and/or machine learning </li><li>Basic understanding of statistics </li><li>Able to work independently but also in teams </li><li>Able to quickly assimilate and understand technology, out-of-box thinker </li></ul><p></p><p><b>Additional notes</b></p><p></p><ul><li>The anticipated starting date for internships is in spring or summer of 2026. </li><li>Preferable duration is 6 months, but other durations could be arranged. This internship could be part, but not necessarily, of a graduating school assignment.
