SloanAbout the role
JOIN AN INDUSTRY LEADER! Quality First & Green Always
Sloan is the world’s leading manufacturer of commercial plumbing systems and has been in operation since 1906. We are at the forefront of the green building movement and provide sustainable restroom solutions. We manufacture water- efficient products including flush valves, electronic faucets, soap dispensing and sink systems along with vitreous china fixtures for commercial, industrial and institutional markets worldwide.
About the Role:
This position requires strong mechanical engineering (fluidics, hydraulics, etc.) and manufacturing knowledge (castings, machining, injection molding), but must also be familiar with electronics and sensor integration. Responsible for engineering analysis, prototyping, and experiments to support new product development and production, ensuring high standards of quality. Utilize, develop and promote the use of best practices in engineering such as DFMEA, tolerance analysis, DOE. Develop specifications and proposals, and lead multi-site internal engineering resources and outside design partners to execute mission critical projects contributing to Sloan’s future growth.
What you'll do:
- Design new products and develop innovative solutions that maximize the efficiency
of water utilization in complex and variable plumbing systems, building a deep
understanding of the interactions between plumbing system components and
different installation environments. - Develop and document engineering
specifications, material requirements and process ECNs. - Plan and execute robust experimentation, validation, and verification of new and
improved product design performance as part of a fully integrated plumbing system. - Develop R&D test plans to validate engineering designs to product requirements.
- Analyze and resolve design challenges and quality issues via a solid understanding of
the science behind the design through appropriate engineering analysis including
FEA and CFD, tolerance analysis, statistical methods, design of experiments,
simulation, calculation and other engineering methodologies - Prepare clear and concise documentation for designs, including drawings, inspection
requirements, calibration procedures, engineering reports, and work instructions. - Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization both
orally and in written fashion. - Coordinate engineering activity with Sloan partners and design sites. Participate in setting design standards across the organization.
- Leads other engineers in major development projects - makes work assignments and follows up on work content. Instructs junior engineers on process and problem
solving. - Investigate new technologies to be applied to future products.
- Research, recommend, and implement cutting edge technologies and techniques related to product prototyping and manufacturing
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Who You are:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 2+ Years Related experience
- Advanced level experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, etc.). - Demonstrates clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication

- Comfortable working in multiple software packages and complicated surface
profiles. - Ability to produce supporting documentation including 2-D models and FEA
analysis. - Familiarity and basic working understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics.
- Strong analytical skills in hydraulics/fluidics, mechanisms, dynamics and tolerance analysis.
A plus, but not required:
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in design of faucets
- Experience interfacing with offshore manufacturing partners
- Experience using Creo, FEA software, statistical software
- Knowledge of 6 sigma and design of 6 sigma principles
- Knowledge of statistics, failure analysis and design of experiments
