Orbital Engineering is seeking a NACE/AMPP Level II or Level III Certified Coatings Inspector to manage internal and external tank coating assessments and repair projects. This individual will be onsite at a major refining facility in Garyville, LA. This position will report to our Baton Rouge, LA Office. This is a temporary 4-6 month assignment. This role will average 50 hours per week at a minimum (10-12 hour shifts.)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for managing tank coating assessments and repair projects for assigned tanks to ensure integrity of both external coatings and internal coatings/linings/liners.
  • Experience with Abrasive Blasting/Coatings Application/Industrial Coatings
  • Knowledge and experience with Internal Linings and CUI Coatings
  • Quality Control/Quality Assurance – Professional Documentation, Inspection, Equipment Utilization, Daily Inspection Reports
  • Coordinate and track fieldwork with client contacts and report writing.
  • Track projects to ensure schedules are maintained.
  • Perform all manner of QA/QC field tasks related to coatings/liners/linings of storage tanks.
  • Ensure procedures and processes are current and being followed.
  • Work at elevated and confined space-type areas.
  • Good communication and Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Beginner to Intermediate Level)

Minimum Requirements

  • NACE/AMPP Level II or Level III Certified Coatings Inspector Certification is required.
  • Minimum of 12 years of field experience as a coating inspector
  • Minimum of 12 years of field experience as a coating inspector with internal tank coatings/liners/linings
  • High degree of reading comprehension.
  • Significant technical background.
  • TWIC Card
  • OSHA Basic Plus Card
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to the Garyville, LA facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize multiple assignments, complex assignments, and competing priorities to produce quality reports and results.
  • Computer proficiency including general office products, design, and business enterprise software.
  • Reasoning skills and ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication and engineering drawings.
  • Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a fit for duty test.
  • High School Diploma required
