Financial Reporting Senior Accountant

Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join us as a Financial Reporting Senior Accountant!

About the role

As a Financial Reporting Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in the company’s accounting close and financial reporting processes. You will analyze financial results for internal and external reporting, and support key finance projects.

You will review and approve work from other team members, ensuring proper accounting treatment and compliance with internal controls. In some cases, you will lead and guide others to maintain consistency and accuracy in reporting.

Your strong foundation in accounting, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex tasks will be essential to your success in this role.

What you will do

• Lead components of the monthly accounting close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting files
• Prepare and review financial analytics, management reports, and key deliverables
• Own assigned functional areas with strong subject matter expertise
• Lead ad hoc projects focused on process improvements, accounting transactions, and innovation
• Develop and manage project plans, communicating progress to stakeholders
• Prepare and review complex audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors
• Deliver high-quality work with minimal revisions and resolve complex accounting issues independently

Compensation

Salary Range: $79,900 - $133,200 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

• High School Diploma is required.
• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience, with industry experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Highly analytical with excellent communication skills
• Skilled in process improvement and able to think creatively to solve problems
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and challenging environment
• Team-oriented with a growth mindset and a desire to continuously improve
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
