We are looking for a Composite Lay-Up technician to join us in producing an exciting new class of all-electric personal aircraft. You will be responsible for following current processes, specifications, best practices while laminating pre-preg composite parts. You will use fixtures, molds, laser projection and shop aides to ensure composite part fabrication is done properly and be responsible for the quality of your work. You will help develop and bring about safe autonomous flight.

Why we need you:
- With that vision in mind, we are looking for a Composite Layup Technician to join our Composite Fabrication Team. The goal of the Composite Layup Technician at Wisk is to to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will assist and work with team members and engineers to resolve problems and develop techniques for special projects and programs. Have the ability to work from digital work instructions blueprints, drawings and manufacturing specs and work orders. Your goal is to make sure that scheduled tasks are met within proper time constraints. Your mission is to keep safety at the forefront of everything you do while assembling top level aircraft in accordance with current processes and specifications.
- The successful candidate is a highly knowledgeable and experienced technical person who has direct hands-on experience developing and building type certified aircraft, from initial concept through final build and delivery to flight test. In this role, the candidate must be proactive, forward thinking and self-motivated with the ability to inspire and lead by influence a team of like-minded personnel.
What you will do:
- Get to know the team
- Work 2nd shift kitting materials and learning autoclave operations
- Learn from others about the current composite processes and specifications
- Get familiar with shop protocol and practices
- Fabricate composite parts with guidance and supervision from a senior technician
- Continue learning the integral details, fit, form, and function of the composite laminates that you are assigned to
- Identify issues in the manufacturing process and propose/implement solutions or improvement
- Record your work in the current work order/traveler format
- Work with responsible/manufacturing engineers and quality control to properly document any non-conformance or deviations from the established work instructions.
- Reach high level of knowledge with the composite fabrication processes that are applicable
- Capable of fabricating parts in accordance with released processes and specifications with little supervision
What you have done:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years lay-up of pre-preg composite parts with complex geometries
- Very strong mechanical skills
- Able to read and understand composite engineering drawings including notes and tolerances
- Strong craftsmanship skills and experience with various types of hand tools and hand-held power tools
- Broad experience with a wide variety of epoxy resin systems, woven carbon fiber and fiberglass, film adhesives, core materials, and syntactic fillers
- Able to learn new software systems for ply cutting, laser projection, and oven controllers
- Bladder and/or compression molding lay-up experience
- Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
- Strong team player
- Ability/experience operating a laser tracker for part validation or fixture set-up
- Ability to work from verbal instructions
- Experience in a manufacturing environment conducting repetitive tasks
- Ability to operate a forklift
