POSITION OVERVIEW

The Motel Program will provide interim shelter at multiple underutilized motels and hotels across the city of San Jose.  The Motel Program (MP) is intended to provide Emergency Interim Housing opportunities and is a referral-based only program with no drop-in services provided to the public. The MP will support program participants by providing services to include case management, housing problem-solving, meals and other wraparound supportive services. These services are informed by a harm reduction philosophy with an emphasis on educating participants on how to avoid risky behaviors and engage in safer practices, including connection to evidence-based treatment options. In sites where RV placement is permitted, participants will have access to the same services as motel program participants.

The Motel Program Manager of Scattered Sites will oversee HomeFirst’s case management and support services within the Motel Programs within the Emergency Housing Division. The Motel Program Manager of Scattered Sites will consist of a team that includes Resident Advocates, Case Managers and Community Engagement Coordinator.

The Motel Program Manager of Scattered Sites will report directly to the Director of Interim Housing within the Emergency Housing Division. This Division encompasses all programs serving individuals and families who are unhoused and seeking immediate temporary housing or shelter options. Under the guidance of the agency’s Director of Interim Housing and Vice President (VP) of the Emergency Housing Division, the Program Manager will oversee various locations.

In partnership with the Director of Interim Housing, the Motel Program Manager of Scattered Sites will support in planning, design, and implementation of The Motel Programs and will promote performance outcome metrics for all sites assigned and all aspects of program oversight and implementation within their department.
