Shift: Monday – Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm CST)

A Food Service Specialist, also known as a Food Service Worker or Nutrition Services Assistant, plays a crucial role in preparing and serving meals in various settings, such as schools, hospitals, and military bases. Their responsibilities may include food preparation, serving meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and managing inventory. They may also assist with meal planning, food safety, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Service

• Prepare and cook meals and snacks
• Set up serving lines and serve food to customers
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the kitchen and dining areas

Kitchen Maintenance and Organization

• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
• Maintain inventory of food supplies and equipment
• Restock shelves and refrigerators as needed

Safety and Quality Control

• Follow food safety guidelines to prevent contamination and foodborne illness
• Monitor food temperatures and storage procedures
• Report any food safety concerns or issues to management

Customer Service

• Provide excellent customer service to clients, patients, or students
• Handle customer complaints and concerns in a professional manner
• Maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the dining area

Teamwork and Communication

• Work collaboratively with other food service staff to ensure efficient service
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and customers
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions as requires

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous food handling (prep/cooking), purchasing and menu experience in a residential setting of 10 or more clients

Additional Qualifications:

•             A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.

•             Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

•             Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
