Description

 

The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, operated by the Department of Public Health is seeking an EVS Operations Coordinator who would oversee daily operations of the Environmental Services Department. This includes key support functions such as laundry, pest control, hazardous waste management, and groundskeeping. This role ensures full compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and DLS standards, and partners closely with Infection Prevention and Control to uphold state and organizational cleanliness requirements. The coordinator also manages 24/7 staffing needs and leads training and competency programs for all EVS team members. Please Note Scheduled Hours:  8:30AM-4:30PM, Monday-Friday

 

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Supervises a 24/7 Environmental Services team delivering essential hospital services.

  • Conducts and documents regular staff supervision, coaching, and performance evaluations.

  • Manages and participates in personnel matters in collaboration with departmental leadership.

  • Leads newhire orientation, ongoing training, and annual inservice programs.

  • Coordinates vacation schedules and reviews timeoff requests to ensure adequate coverage.

  • Oversees EVSrelated contracted services, including pest management, hazardous waste removal, landscaping, and laundry.

  • Performs routine inspections to ensure compliance with JC, CMS, DLS, and Infection Control standards.

  • Initiates maintenance work requests based on facility observations and needs.

  • Partners with Infection Control to establish and maintain regulatory cleanliness standards.

  • Supports supervisors and shift leaders with daily scheduling, project coordination, and emergency response activities.

  • Works with Human Resources to fill positions in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and hiring protocols.

  • Provides departmental orientation on MSDS, approved cleaning agents, PPE, safety procedures, and attendance expectations.

  • Maintains and updates EVS departmental policies and procedures.

  • Reviews and responds to incident reports and quality management findings.

  • Coordinates departmental quality improvement initiatives and participates in crossdepartmental programs.

  • Contributes to the departmental budgeting process and promotes costeffective operations.

  • Coordinates capital equipment purchasing for the EVS department.

  • Participates in committees such as Infection Control, Product Review, and Physical Environment.

 

Required Qualifications:
