About the role

Job Overview & Responsibilities

Mythics, an Oracle Platinum Partner and leading Oracle solutions provider, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Oracle DBA Consultant with extensive experience supporting Exadata and Oracle Database environments. This role will be responsible for providing daily production and non-production operational support, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security for mission-critical systems.

 

As an Oracle Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will work both independently and collaboratively with client teams to support database modernization initiatives, migrations, and optimization projects. This is a client-facing position that requires strong technical expertise and excellent problem-solving skills. This position requires being onsite daily at the client location in Suffolk, VA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for Oracle Database and Exadata systems in production and non-production environments.

  • Perform installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations of Oracle Databases from 12c to 19c.

  • Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting to optimize database performance and availability.

  • Manage backup and recovery operations using RMAN to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

  • Configure and support Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate for high availability and disaster recovery.

  • Implement and maintain database encryption and security controls in compliance with industry and client standards.

  • Provide guidance and recommendations for modernization and cloud migration initiatives.

  • Document database configurations, procedures, and operational processes.

  • Collaborate with client stakeholders, developers, and system administrators to design, implement, and support database solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with DISA STIG guidance and security best practices for Linux and Oracle database environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Must have an active Secret Clearance
  • 16+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with strong focus on production environments.

  • Expertise with Oracle RAC administration and troubleshooting.

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database upgrades and migrations, particularly from 12c to 19c.

  • Advanced skills in database performance tuning and optimization.

  • Proficiency with Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Data Guard, and RMAN backup & recovery.

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Database encryption methods and implementation.

  • Experience managing and migrating large-scale enterprise databases.

  • Understanding of networking concepts related to Oracle databases.

  • Familiarity with Linux KVM architecture and configuration for security best practices.

  • Knowledge of Linux layout and hardening practices per DISA STIG guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification.

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud platforms.

  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar for database management.

  • Experience working in government or highly regulated environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Deep understanding of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, and high availability concepts.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex database issues quickly.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for client interaction and documentation.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to security, reliability, and operational excellence.

  • Dedication to continuous learning and staying current with emerging Oracle technologies.
