Project Overview
Bechtel's latest solar project is to complete the engineering, procurement, and construction of the Cutlass Solar project in Fort Bend, Texas. The solar PV project will add 140 MWDC to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ Houston Zone, enough to power approximately 15,000 homes with zero-carbon electricity.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Core Renewables Operations Manager and located at the jobsite, responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering the project from all stages of project development and execution, including design, construction, commissioning and performance testing. The Project Manager leads the project’s commercial and prime contract management, supervises the administration of budgets and schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications.
This position will start in Richmond, TX on a short-term assignment. In addition to meeting all the Essential Job Duties and Job Knowledge, the ideal candidate should be adaptable and able to relocate to project sites throughout the US.
Responsibilities
- Reports to and receives technical and functional guidance from the North American Core Renewables Operations Manager
- Provides direction to direct project reports to include the coordination and supervision of project team(s) including engineering, supply chain, construction, and others
- Acts as the principal contact for the project scope of work with Customers and Bechtel management throughout the duration of the project
- Maintains contact with management personnel from suppliers, subcontractors, and governmental agencies as appropriate
- Oversee and manage delivery portfolio of solar projects to ensure schedule, project scope management, budget performance, quality requirements, and safety requirements are met
- Assists BD in developing win plans, preliminary project execution plans, estimating plans, proposal plans, proposals, and contract formulation
- Reviews draft prime contract and proposal documents
- Develops prime contract strategy and plan and participates in prime contract negotiations, including the negotiations of client/customer deliverables and the schedule for such deliverables
- Establishes an appropriate, integrated organizational structure, including off-project functional and specialist support
- Defines and communicates roles, responsibilities, and authorities to project team members/partners and the Customer to ensure project completion in a safe manner, within budget, on schedule, and in conformance with the appropriate standards, specifications and applicable regulatory requirements
- Ensures scope, design basis and objectives are defined, best practices/lessons learned reviewed, detailed work plans, schedules, budgets and procedures are established, including implementation of the standard solar project execution plan
- Provide coaching, training, supervisory and development responsibilities for project team
- Collaborate with project stakeholders such as owners, utilities, landowners, municipalities, developers, consultants, subcontractors, and other project partners
- Manage budget and cost performance for project(s) and taking corrective actions to meet plan objectives
- Support development and manage project schedules including look ahead schedules
- Provide constructability reviews providing risk analysis, suggestions, and input to ensure successful delivery and execution
