As a Medical Assistant you will perform medical assistant related procedures for patients enrolled in clinical trials.  

  • You will triage Oncology research patient phone calls.

  • You will monitor, respond and/or escalate triage phone calls and messages.

  • You will provide accurate and concise documentation telephone interactions with patients and/or caregiver

  • You will triage new patient referral communication to patient/referring office.

  • You will obtain prior authorizations of prescribed medications.

  • You will access, flush and de-access ports.  

  • You will perform peripheral and port lab draws.  

  • You will prepare patient for examination.  

  • You will assist physicians with procedures as needed.  

  • You will prepare and stock exam rooms.  

  • You will obtain vital signs and EKGs from pharmacokinetics (PK) patients.  

  • You will perform buccal swabs on pharmacokinetics (PK) patients as needed.  

  • You will ensure proper maintenance/handling of EKG machines (clinic and sponsor EKGs)  

  • You will verify the correct study lab kit is prepped for the pharmacokinetic (PK) patients with long days and new starts every morning prior to patient arriving.  

  • You will respond to queries generated from study sponsor or contract lab regarding patient/sample data.  

  • You will maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areas.  

  • You will interface with P/SL and laboratory personnel regarding labs for research patients.  

  • You will interface with the Clinic Research Nurses to ensure that all research patients have correct lab kits prior to patient visits.  

  • You will order medical supplies as needed.  

  • You will obtain radiology authorizations.  

  • You will respond to emails daily.  

  • You will utilize electronic medical record source for documentation.  

  • You will assist other research personnel in the clinic when requested.  

You should have for this position: 

  • You must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluids  

  • Skill in venipuncture and blood processing 

  • Skill in computer applications  

  • Skill in gathering and reporting information 

  • Medical Assistant training is preferred 

  • Medical Clinic or Clinical laboratory and phlebotomy or equivalent experience 

  • Current BLS certification 

Compensation range $20/hr - $27/hr. This position will be posted until April 15, 2026.
