Position Overview
The Product Designer participates in the entire product development process from initial ideation through product launch. The Designer is responsible for developing concept sketches, generating 3D and 2D drawings, and creating photo realistic renderings from 3D models. The role is responsible for providing support for assigned product lines and creating designs for multiple brands within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Development of compelling design proposals through projects assignments and independent work
- Collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers and Suppliers in the development of selected designs
- Support Product Manager(s) with evaluation of design from external sources based on factors such as aesthetic appearance, design/function, materials/engineering, methods of production, application and selling price.
- Create photorealistic visualizations for internal and external presentations
- Market research of product and consumer trends
- Additional responsibilities as needed
Education, Skills and Experience
- BA/BFA Degree in Industrial, Furniture or Interior Design or equivalent industry experience
- 1-5 years product design experience
- Lighting or home furnishings industry background preferred but not required
- Strong portfolio displaying creativity, problem solving, and technical expertise
- 3D modeling (SolidEdge or SolidWorks or Rhino), AutoCAD or equivalent, KeyShot
- Photoshop or equivalent
- Must be capable of lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 15%, including international travel
