Accounting General Department

Vantage Accounting Operations is a shared services team responsible for accurately and efficiently recording financial transactions while building positive financial relationships with customers and vendors across North America.

 

The team coordinates the entry, review, and approval of day-to-day transaction processing in accordance with financial policies and department SLA’s. The team members proactively engage in solving problems through close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in the development and implementation of continuous process improvements by maximizing the use of our technology resources, and continuing education to improve accounting operational efficiency through assessing, standardizing, and streamlining day-to-day processes. The team behaves with integrity, synergy, flexibility, respect, and initiative.

Position Overview

Vantage’s footprint in North America is expanding and to support it, its accounting team is growing to better support its portfolio of data centers. As such, Vantage is looking for a resourceful, agile and diligent Cash Accountant responsible for tracking, recording and reconciling cash activities for our bank accounts in North America.

Due to the growing complexity of our treasury operations and banking structure, the cash accountant will play a critical role in the cash management and the monthly close processes, notably by ensuring cash balances are accurate and up-to-date. They will have opportunities to work cross functionally with the accounting operations, treasury and the FP&A teams, and also will assist in financial reporting activities, including preparation of monthly and quarterly reports.

This position will be based on-site at our office in Montreal, QC or Denver, CO. in alignment with our flexible work policy. (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible).

Duties

  • Review bank statements and records cash transactions for the organization’s multiple bank accounts, including payments, receipts, internal transfers, bank fees and debt waterfalls transactions;

  • Supervise cash transactions to ensure that bank account balances to the report and any unusual items are investigated and timely posted;

  • Collaborate with accounts payable and accounts receivable teams to solve incomplete, pending and irregular 3rd party transactions;

  • Track and report on cash activities at our trustee accounts;

  • Maintain registers of our trade instruments such as letters of credits;

  • Receive, identify, and resolve a variety of internal and external inquiries concerning account statuses and transactions;

  • Set up and maintain filing systems, both electronically and hard copy, as stipulated by local regulations;

  • Prepare monthly internal financial reporting information related to cash;

  • Assist in implementing and documenting process improvements;

  • Assist in coordination with external auditors and internal auditors

  • Additional duties as assigned by Management

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required;

  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar or relevant role;

  • Experience or working knowledge of concepts around waterfall calculations and capital calls;

  • Good knowledge of internal control systems related to cash;

  • Real estate industry experience is preferred, but not required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Comfort in working in fast-paced, changing environment and ability to adapt with changes in responsibilities

  • Ability to collaborate with individuals across the organization and “roll-up one’s sleeves” to accomplish all necessary tasks

  • Knowledge of Yardi preferred but not required
