Summary

 

We are looking for a summer intern - 2024 to join our DSP Firmware Engineering team in Austin, Texas. In this role you will work on firmware and software simulations (mostly in Python) to research and develop new features for automotive radio products. The focus will be on FM and AM standards from demodulation to audio processing. Candidates will be asked to describe their knowledge in DSP, embedded software development, and coding best practices. 

Responsibilities

 

•    Root cause analysis, critical thinking, and solid debug skills
•    Ability to find problems and limitations 
•    Research possible solutions and analyze trade-offs 
•    Creative thinking to solve complex issues 
•    Work with Senior DSP Firmware engineers to determine most appropriate solutions
•    Create clean interfaces for code re-use 
•    Coding optimizations 
•    Develop features to meet the needs of firmware validation testing
•    Implement unit tests for features under development
•    Implement system tests to confirm successful feature integration 
•    Document features, limitations, expected behavior, and corner cases 

Education

 

Bachelors, Masters or PhD candidates in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field considered 

You must be enrolled in an educational program for the duration of the internship.

Requirements

 

•    Digital Signal Processing skills
•    Good understanding of scripting languages; e.g. Python or Tcl
•    Proficient in coding C/C++
•    Ability to share ideas clearly 
•    Work in a team environment 
•    Knowledge of how digital filters perform

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
