Location: Huntsville, AL (On-Site)

Canvas is seeking a Business Unit (BU) Director to manage contract & employee performance, cost, and schedule as well as Business Development for our Army Programs and Software Development Tools.
Duties:
Specific job duties include the following:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement the business unit's strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Identify growth opportunities, both organic and through new opportunities.
- Drive innovation and long-term competitiveness within the BU.
Corporate Leadership
- Participation in Canvas' core leadership team reviews as a briefer/contributor on current contract status, gate reviews, teaming strategies, goals, and issues as well as corporate growth planning
- Provide regular performance updates and strategic recommendations.
- Mentoring and managing personnel to include contract program managers, task leads, business development staff, and other indirect support staff within your business unit to ensure employee retention, contract performance, profitability, and growth metrics are met or exceeded
Business Development & Capture
- Develop and manage a Business Unit pipeline of contract opportunities and proactively develop teams of partners to ensure a high win probability.
- Drive the capture of new business opportunities, including proposal development and bid strategies.
- Coordination with the Business Development team to ensure alignment with overarching vehicles and acquisition strategies to support priming and subcontracting opportunities
P&L Management
- Own the profit and loss accountability for the business unit.
- Ensure financial targets (revenue, margins, cost control, etc.) are met or exceeded.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Oversee execution of Army and Software Development programs and contracts.
- Ensure contract deliverables are delivered on time and meet all technical and compliance requirements.
- Manage risk and resolve programmatic challenges proactively.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with key customers.
- Serve as the primary executive interface for BU customers, ensuring satisfaction and trust.
Requirements:
- Bachelors in an accredited engineering or business discipline with 10+ years' experience
- Minimum of 5 years Project or Program Management experience is required
- Experience managing projects valued over $30M desired
- Experience leading a team of 15 or more personnel.
- Leadership of 25 or more personnel desired
- Leadership in an Army technical environment desired
Security Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; Active Secret clearance desired.
Other Essential Job Functions:
- Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
