Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer estimates, researches, plans, designs, develops, analyzes, tests, and troubleshoots a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including displays, cameras and other sensors, processors, interface units, power supplies, DC/DC convertors, and other electronic devices, components, and subassemblies. Analyses are performed during all phases of the product development process including: proposal, concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide design input to the extended team in the proposal, development, testing, and validation phases of both Heads Down Displays and our future of Heads Up Displays.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Select Electronic Parts for New Assemblies and End-of-Life Items
- Electronic Schematics via Visio
- Create Cable drawings via Visio
- Perform Circuit Design via Altium
- Perform Analysis and Simulation of Electronic Circuits via LTSpice
- Create Test Plans and Reports for EMI, Qualification, & Acceptance Testing
- Perform Laboratory Testing on Bread Boards & Mock-ups
- Create Tasks List and Labor Estimates for Proposals
- System Integration, Testing, and Troubleshooting
- Design of Assemblies for testing PCB's and LRU's
- Participate in presentations with clients and vendors
- Support other engineering disciplines and other functional areas
- Complete other related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Some travel may be required (approximately 10%)
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-8 years’ experience and demonstrated proficiency in the above areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must possess diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. They must have knowledge of current manufacturing processes and standards, especially those commonly seen in the defense industry. Familiarity with DoD and MIL standards is a plus.
Required:
- 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (other education disciplines are acceptable with relevant work experience)
- 5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in electro-mechanical products
- Digital and Analog Circuit design skills
- Perform Analysis and Simulation of Electronic Circuits via LTSpice
- Embedded Microprocessor understanding
- Use of Electronic CAD design and verification tools (Altium)
- Experience with electronics test, simple circuit design, and analysis.
- Mil-Standard Specifications – land, sea, and air (Also acceptable is FAA regulation standards)
- Must be a highly effective communicator, both verbally and in writing
- Must be highly self-motivated and able to work in both team and individual environments
- Microsoft Office including the use of Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and other desktop tools
- Systems level analysis tools such as MATLAB or equivalent
- Systems level block diagram capture tools such as Visio
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- Must have the ability to identify & assess design-related problems or constraints in order to evaluate, modify, & implement alternative solutions to meet cost & timing requirements
- Highly organized, able to multitask, and prioritize various activities to ensure timely and accurate compliance within schedule and budget requirements
- High desire to remain in or become part of the Defense Industry
- Excellent general EE skills
Preferred (in ascending order):
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; or a related field
- 10+ years of relative experience
- Project Management, Proposal, and/or Estimating Experience
- Mil-Standard Validation Testing
- Experience with design of Ruggedized Displays and Electronics
- Digital and Analog C
