Job Description
The expectation for this mid-level position is to demonstrate the ability to creative problem-solving and designing marketing communication materials for business assignments.
An Art Director develops and executes creative marketing ideas and materials to solve client business challenges. Shows competency in developing ideas and executions for creative product. Has a good sense for design fundamentals and visual esthetics. Collaborates with a copywriter and other agency disciplines to generate ideas and create concepts that are on strategy, on brand and achieve client objectives.
An Art Director should be curious, ambitious, open-minded, collaborative and showcase their creativity with both ideas and executions. They should be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of creative solutions for business problems while collaborating with others to learn and delvelop quality work that meets the needs of a project brief. An Art Director is also continuing to build their brand reputation within the agency.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Deliver on Creative Assignments
Creative Development
- Partners with a copywriter, or other team members, to create solutions for assignments
- Composes rough layouts and design options quickly
- Develops well-crafted design solutions for specific medias that are on brand and on strategy
- Consistently presents great design principles to deliver clear and compelling communication
- Is resourceful and innovative with business creative processes such as usage rights for stock photography and fonts
- Has an understanding of company development processes
- Consistently domonstrates open-mindedness and resillience to feedback and direction
- Interprets feedback and provides solutions that fit and exceed the expectation
Concepting & Ideation
- Participates in creative brainstorms
- Leans into knowledge on current trends, pop culture, and current and past design themes
- Brings original ideas, builds on others and facilitates collaborative thinking with others
- Shows an understanding of business problems, opportunities and challenges and how to address them
