Purpose
The Space and Geophysics Laboratory (SGL) delivers capabilities to government customers for multiple applications, from real-time, data-intensive network operations to standalone remote field systems.
This position is responsible for deploying, maintaining, and monitoring infrastructure and production systems. The position will involve defining and implementing new features, designing and executing testing, and monitoring operational health for systems that collect and analyze remote sensor data in near real-time with a particular focus on Cloud-computing systems. The main responsibility of this position is ensuring new features and deployments meet requirements and performance metrics throughout the entire development process from design to production. Depending on interests, other opportunities for growth are mentoring associate level members/student employees, maintaining metrics and defining standards for testing and monitoring, and adding to the test automation suite.
Responsibilities
Assist in the design, implementation, documentation, testing, and monitoring of infrastructure and production deployments.
Assist in the design, automation, and documentation of test and monitoring procedures.
Participate in project and requirement reviews; provide technical interface to sponsors and other external organizations; identify software and hardware resource requirements.
Other functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher, in science, applied science, or engineering.
Three years of related applied research experience.
Experience with Bash, Python, or C++.
Experience with software or system test development and execution.
Demonstrated ability to design, develop, evaluate, and support the development of large and complex systems.
Experience with various testing activities including test design, documentation, risk analysis, test automation, test results and reporting.
Must hold a DoD 8570.01 approved certification to satisfy an IAT Level 2 or higher certification, or must obtain certification(s) within 180 days from hire date.
Evidence of skills in the following areas: working with new technologies, being organized and coordinating multiple tasks, attention to detail, effective problem solving skills, using excellent judgment, working independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintaining a professional demeanor, working as a team member without daily supervision, effectively communicating with all groups of clients, working under pressure, accepting supervision and demonstrating regular/punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, engineering management, engineering mechanics, operations research, industrial engineering, or related field.
Ten years of experience in similar roles
Experience with software development in Python or JavaScript.
Experience with Linux.
Scripting with Python and bash.
Full stack web development.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with AWS cloud deployment, testing, and monitoring.
Experience with GNSS observation and navigation data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills within a team environment including software developers.
Previous or current eligibility for access to classified information.
Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a 3.5 in major coursework.
