PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The primary responsibility of a Pharmacy Assistant is to assist the Director of Pharmacy Operations or Clinical Services Manager in providing support to KTA pharmacies by performing administrative office tasks, calling and scheduling patients, filing, and other support services tasks. The Pharmacy Assistant increases customer loyalty by assisting all customers with courteous, pleasant, patient service and treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
You MUST perform the following duties regularly and up to company standards:

Promptly, courteously and efficiently greet, thank, offer assistance, and meet the needs of all customers.

Assist the Director of Pharmacy Operations or Clinical Service Manager with special projects.

Call patients and schedule them for various clinical services such as diabetes education classes.

File pharmacy-related documentation.

Assist with shredding and properly discarding protected health information.

Perform data-entry function using Microsoft Excel ® or Microsoft Word ®
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
In order to provide the best possible service to our customers, the following duties are also required on an as-needed basis, during slow periods, or upon instruction by a senior clerk, supervisor, director or designated person-in-charge.

Answer incoming phone calls and pages over the PA system.

Process invoices and file prescriptions.

Order, check-in and store supplies and merchandise.

Properly price, stock and merchandise items to correct locations on the sales floor.

Inventory merchandise – process returns, check for outdate items, etc.

Refill and maintain “robot” or other counting technology.
-
Maintain and clean the department - dust, discard trash, etc.

Work at other locations as needed.

Perform other duties as required or assigned.
CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS
All associates are required to provide our customers with World Class Service with a local touch.
- GREET all customers (be friendly, smile and make face-to-face eye contact).
- HELP all customers (listen and pay attention; be courteous; be knowledgeable about product location, services offered and store hours; offer alternatives if a product is out of stock; take the customer to the product, etc.).
- Personalize the customers shopping experience (make small talk, offer meal suggestions, explain current store promotions, etc.).
- THANK all customers (show appreciation and offer a parting comment).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequently work indoors where it is clean, air-conditioned (sometimes cold), and adequately lighted environment.
- Occasionally work in a store warehouse where it may be both noisy and dusty.
- Seldom need to travel and work at other locations.
WORK HOURS
- Generally be available for work 7 days a week and holidays, between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm.
EQUIPMENT USE
-
Frequently use a telephone to communicate with fellow store associates, customers, sales representatives, other health care providers and insurance companies; use pens, pencils, calculator, photo-copier, fax machine, scanner and other “office” equipment to process customer’s prescriptions and invoices; use a computer and keyboard to enter and retrieve date, process prescriptions, type reports and documents, send and receive emails, do research or look up claim information.

Occasionally use a spatula, counting tray and “robot” or other automatic pill counter to count and fill customer’s prescriptions; operate a computer/cash register (POS system) when charging and collecting payment from customers; use a box cutter, paper cutter and various office equipment; operate a freight elevator and company vehi
