Location: Kentucky Hatchery, Monticello, KY                                        

Schedule:  Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. 

Hours: Start times will vary due to workload and customer requests. Averages approximately 10-12 hours per shift.

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

                   

Position Summary:

  • This position is responsible for assisting in supervising and coordinating the activities of employees in the area of servicing day old chicks per customer request.  Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Six months of leadership experience preferred.  Experience with Excel and CHS preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize paperwork and employees to complete orders on time.  Assists with training new employees. Planning, assigning and directing work of Processing Crew employees.  Addresses complaints and resolves problems (15%).
  • Makes sure each customer is getting the correct amount of chicks and correct services on approximately 60,000 chicks per day and that all birds are accounted for accurately.  Ensure domestic and international paperwork is accurate. (20%).
  • Ensures chicks are placed in proper housing and total bird count numbers match up with Pull Crew and Sexors (15%).
  • Ensure services, such as dubbing, toe/beak treatment, vaccinations, grading, counting are completed accurately per customer requests  (20%).
  • Completes all necessary daily paperwork (20%).
  • Lead positions must currently have and consistently maintain 4 attendance points or less

Other Duties, Responsibilities and Activities

  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.  Such as:  Conducts weekly meetings with team members, operate a high pressure and regular water hose, properly euthanize weak/ill chicks in accordance with company policy, mixes vaccine and maintains a clean and organized work area.  Cleans chick processing equipment and does laundry on Sundays. (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements/Safety

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly lift/stack boxes of chicks weighing up to 15-17 pounds.  Must regularly push/pull a stack of 10 boxes of chicks on a wheeled dolly weighing  approximately 150-170 pounds.  Must be able to bend to pick up boxes.  While performing
