We are hiring a full-time Program Associate to join the Leadership Practice group in support of the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Program. This program connects entrepreneurs from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada with U.S.-based businesses and organizations. As a critical team member, the Program Associate will support various program activities including: partnership development (communications, outreach, vetting, onboarding, and supporting YLAI Fellows and partners); administrative and logistical management (database management, pre-program travel logistics, planning and executing program activities and workshops); and project compliance (monitoring program impact, and managing program finances, managing subawards, and reporting on program activities).

This position is based in the IREX office in Washington, DC, with a hybrid telework format. IREX employees will report to the office two days a week.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1+ years of work experiences
  • Experience with public speaking, and/or training development and facilitation
  • Experience with engaging and supporting external stakeholders
  • Experience working with multicultural and diverse groups toward a shared goal
  • Experience or interest in entrepreneurship programming, leadership development, and international education or exchange
  • International experience in or exposure to Canada, Latin America, or the Caribbean, through work, study, volunteering, or family, preferred
  • Manage and analyze large sets of data; conduct administrative tasks with attention to detail and acute timeliness
  • Strong written and oral communication and skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural communication skills, including empathizing, engaging, and managing conflict
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 Suite; Canva and Salesforce, preferred, but not required
  • Understanding of Latin America and Caribbean political developments, preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Spanish, French or Portuguese, preferred, but not required

Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks

You will be a member of a team that supports and connects entrepreneurs across the Americas and values integrity, openness, and a sense of humor.

  • Assist in recruiting U.S.-based host organizations to support YLAI Fellows throughout the Fellowship Placement process, from onboarding through completion.
  • Responsible for securing fellowship placements for a portfolio of assigned fellows by directly liaising with U.S.-based businesses and organizations.
  • Assist with developing partner curriculum, activities, and workshops and facilitation of virtual and/or in-person partner trainings.
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements for program stakeholders, including booking flights, securing accommodations, and organizing transportation.
  • Support accurate tracking of large quantities of partnership data and records management for external partners, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
  • Build and sustain network development by representing YLAI and actively engaging with external stakeholders, including participants, alumni, and partners.
  • Create engaging program communication materials that resonate with target partnership audiences.
  • Advise fellows and Fellowship Placement Organizations throughout the program to guide their experience for maximized impact, including facilitation of in-person and/or virtual trainings and office hours.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive databases for program operations, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility for decision-making processes and program tracking.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders and program partners in a clear, professional, friendly manner. Represent the program to external partners during phone calls and in-person meetings and events.
