About the role

Senior Core Scientist: Requires project management skills. Expected to execute and ensure completion of prioritized research projects independently. To provide services and consultation to researchers and investigators in the institution in order to facilitate highly technical and specialized scientific research. To seek out and implement new technical advances and to encourage and develop relevant collaborative projects. Expected to possess a widely recognized level of expertise in a given area. Expected to teach and train.

Lead Analyzer Scientist:
•   Execute customer training for operation of analyzers including BD FACS Symphony A5 SE, BD CantoII and Fortessa X20, Thermo Attune and Cytek Aurora. 
•   Personify technical expertise for data analysis technology by assisting customers with experimental design and platform comprehension.
•   Act as primary contact for the analyzers service issues and vendor resources.
•   Assists in CORE research projects.
 

Staff Sorter Operator:
•   Provides customer training in the operation and maintenance of cell sorters and analytical cytometers including the Attune, Aurora, Symphony A5 SE and all cell sorter platforms (Aurora CS, BD Aria, Tyto and SRT)
•   Execute daily QC and maintenance on CORE instruments. Provide troubleshooting as needed.
•   Provide staff assistance to customers on analytical cytometers and cell sorters, primarily at the Icahn site with some overlap at the Hess site.
•   Provide technical assistance or escalation to customers for all cytometry related inquiries.
•   Provide timely notification for maintenance of laboratory space and equipment, including requests for orders and schedule alterations.
•   Proactively monitor and adjust schedule of operations as determined by customer created reservations on the iLabs system.
•   Assist CORE customers in determining best use of equipment and scheduling time to achieve highest quality results, including both Analyzer and Sorter instruments.
•   Ensure compliance with CORE Standard Operating Procedures and Mount Sinai Policies where applicable and including safety, integrity, and legal policies.
•   Contribute to scientific discussion within the CORE on an ad hoc basis.

  • BS/BA + min of 9 years of subject matter experience; MS + 7y relevant training; PhD + postdoctoral or other advanced training (preferred)
  • MS Word-Intermediate
  • Core relevant software, advanced
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
