The focus of this internship is assisting the department with the implementation of automated systems delivered to STIHL Inc and automated systems designed and built in-house. 

 

Tasks include:

• Assisting with installation of systems, troubleshooting, and observing the automation.
• Collecting and analyzing data to support decision making.
• Compiling root cause analysis.
• Assisting with smaller design and program changes.
• Supporting NTB testing.
• Assisting with RFQ and project specifications for new projects.
• Developing 2D drawings for various components/assemblies.
• Developing proof of concepts and assisting with machine maintenance. 

Internship Goals:

 

• Improve the performance of installed automations at STIHL Inc.
• Develop strategies and solutions for ramping up automations.
• Understanding the scope and importance of root cause analysis  
• Learn how automations are designed and built.
• Produce documentation for projects and understand the importance of a well-documented project.

Internship Requirements:

 

Academic Year: Junior or above

Area of Study: Mechanical Engineering (machine design preferred)

Preferred GPA: 3.5 or higher

Software Knowledge: SolidWorks, Excel, PowerPoint

Work Hours: 8:00AM-5:00PM M-F  

Department: Machine & Automation

Compensation: $20/hour
