That trust is built on how you show up: thinking things through, sweating the details, and following through.</p><h2><strong><br/></strong></h2><h2><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></h2><p>As a Senior WordPress Developer at Lateral, you will be responsible for designing, building, extending, and maintaining high-quality WordPress solutions that look great, load fast, and scale easily.</p><p>You will:</p><ul> <li>Own the end-to-end development of custom WordPress sites, themes, and plugins from technical architecture to final polish.</li> <li>Translate client goals and designs into performant, maintainable, and scalable WordPress implementations.</li> <li>Collaborate directly with clients: understand their needs, present technical solutions clearly, and guide them toward best-practice approaches.</li> <li>Build reusable components, optimize performance, ensure accessibility, and maintain pixel-perfect execution across devices.</li> <li>Work closely with design, content, and technical teams to integrate APIs, third-party services, marketing tools, and custom functionalities.</li> <li>Troubleshoot complex issues quickly and communicate solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li> <li>Manage staging/production deployments, version control, environment setups, and QA processes to ensure high reliability.</li> <li>Uphold Lateral’s standards of engineering excellence: thoughtful decisions, crisp execution, and clean, well-reviewed code.</li> </ul><h2><strong><br/></strong></h2><h2><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></h2><p>We’re looking for a senior craftsperson who combines deep WordPress expertise with exceptional communication and client leadership.</p><p>You must bring:</p><ul> <li><strong>6+ years of hands-on professional WordPress development</strong> (custom themes, plugins, APIs, Gutenberg blocks, performance tuning, security best practices).</li> <li><strong>Expert-level PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS</strong> plus modern tooling, bundlers, and frameworks as needed.</li> <li><strong>Advanced understanding of WordPress architecture:</strong> hooks, filters, WP REST API, custom post types, taxonomies, roles, caching layers, security, and database internals.</li> <li><strong>Strong experience integrating third-party APIs</strong> and building custom backend logic.</li> <li><strong>Perfect English both written and spoken.</strong> You’ll be client-facing daily.</li> <li>A track record of presenting work to clients, managing expectations, and providing consultative guidance.</li> <li>Experience working in fast-paced environments with high expectations for quality and clari
