At IU Health West Hospital, we're committed to delivering exceptional surgical care while investing in the growth and development of our caregivers. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Educator to lead education and professional development initiatives for our OR team.
In this impactful role, you'll partner with OR leadership, Nursing Professional Development specialists, and frontline clinicians to cultivate a highly skilled workforce dedicated to patient safety, innovation, and clinical excellence. Whether you're mentoring new nurses, leading educational programs, or implementing best practices, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of surgical care at IU Health West.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based educational programs that support perioperative nursing excellence.
- Serve as a clinical educator, mentor, and trusted resource for OR nurses and surgical team members.
- Support our LPN to RN Scrub model.
- Lead and coordinate the AORN Periop 101 Program, providing foundational training for nurses and support staff entering the perioperative environment.
- Collaborate with OR leadership to identify learning needs and create targeted development plans that improve caregiver competency and patient outcomes.
- Support onboarding and orientation for perioperative RNs, Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs), and OR Assistants.
- Provide individualized coaching and performance support to foster professional growth and accountability.
- Assist with competency validation, skills assessments, and regulatory readiness efforts.
- Promote compliance with AORN standards, accreditation requirements, and patient safety initiatives.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and educational initiatives that enhance OR efficiency and clinical practice.
- Stay current on emerging surgical trends, evidence-based practice, and adult learning methodologies.

Qualifications
- Requires 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires current organizational-specified CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications.
- Requires knowledge of adult learning principles, regulatory requirements, and educational program management.
- Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and software applications. v2
- May require the ability to travel to within state of Indiana.
- OR experience is strongly preferred.
- Previous education experience is preferred.
