Financial Data Analyst, Senior

The Challenge

We have an opportunity for you to use your analytical skills to improve financial accountability in the defense industry. As a Data Analyst, you will transform and consolidate the DoD’s massive volume of interconnected, structured, and unstructured accounting data sets, building databases, metrics, dashboards, and applications to support audit preparation and management decision-making. You’ll work closely with your customers to understand their challenges and requirements, digging into their data-rich environments to identify the key pieces of their financial reporting puzzles. You’ll lead stakeholder interviews and fact-finding efforts, develop business rules for customer data sets, build reconciliations to support financial reporting completeness validations, generate responses to auditor requests, and standardize the DoD’s approach to audit response. You’ll provide your customers with structured solutions for responding to the DoD Inspector General, independent public accountants, and internal audit inquiries. You Have

• 5+ years of experience with the DoD or Fortune 500 in the areas of financial reporting, audit, internal controls or data analytics

• Experience acquiring accounting data, building databases, generating audit samples, and responding to provided by client (PBC) requests

• Experience writing SQL scripts to query databases and building reconciliations

• Knowledge of the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) chart of accounts, USSGL account transactions, DoD Financial Management Regulation (FMR), Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), or OMB Circular A-123

• Secret Clearance

• HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have

• Experience with modern relational databases, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL

• Experience providing recommendations to clients or customers using BI platforms, such as QlikSense or Tableau

• Ability to comprehend stakeholder needs, effectively communicate development plans, and track progress milestones

• Ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and manage competing priorities

• Possession of excellent communication skills, including briefing senior leadership

• Possession of excellent organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• CPA, CGFM, or CDFM certification
