Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati’s Counseling and Psychological Services (UC-CAPS) is seeking a qualified Staff Clinician to join its collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting student mental health and well-being. This position will primarily serve students in the College of Law and the Graduate College. The College of Law, the fourth-oldest law school in the nation and Ohio’s first, is a distinguished institution committed to advancing justice and leadership through rigorous legal education. The Graduate College administers over 400 programs, emphasizing student success through professional development, comprehensive support services, and mental health resources.

 

Under the general supervision of a designated administrator, the Staff Clinician will provide direct clinical services to both in-person and online students in the College of Law and the Graduate College. Additionally, the clinician will develop and deliver targeted outreach efforts and contribute to fostering a supportive academic environment that promotes student wellness and success.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct counseling services to university students (College of Law and Graduate College), including intake, evaluation, counseling, and emergency/crisis management.
  • Provide consultation to university community regarding counseling needs.
  • In collaboration with College of Law and Graduate College administration, develop and provide outreach, programs, events, and initiatives to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Serve as liaison for the counseling center to the university community and community agencies, specifically, the College of Law and the Graduate College.
  • Participate in training program(s) within the counseling center, the College of Law and the Graduate College
  • Develop and coordinates programs within the counseling center, the College of Law and the Graduate College
  • Collect data for program coordination.
  • Keep abreast of developments in professional field, related to student mental health, cultural competency and equitable access to services.
  • Represent the department on committees.
  • May provide direct or in direct supervision to staff or trainees.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, or Doctorate Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (PhD or PsyD).

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • Must be independently licensed or licensed eligible as a psychologist, social worker, or clinical counselor in the State of Ohio, with the ability to supervise in their discipline.
  • License must be achieved within six (6) months of date of employment.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of clinical experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience working in a college or university counseling center or other academic environment
  • Experience working as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team
