Job Description

As Program Director Strategic Initiatives, you will lead and drive high-impact transformation programs and projects within Image Guided Therapy (IGT) Systems R&D. Your focus will be on enhancing agility, productivity, and efficiency across R&D by managing an ongoing program with workstreams covering organizational improvements, technical debt reduction, test automation and virtualization. As project manager you will lead transformational development process & tools simplification projects. You work closely with R&D leadership to ensure strategic alignment and benefit realization.

You will also be responsible for the team of R&D project managers reporting to you and coach project managers, contribute to the R&D PMO leadership team and drive PMO competence improvement initiatives

This role is ideal for a seasoned leader with proven R&D transformation expertise, strong leadership, people leadership experience, project management experience and a passion for innovation in a global healthcare setting.

Your responsibilities:

• Lead R&D productivity & efficiency programs and projects across IGT Systems R&D.

• Drive a complex program of projects and workstreams focused on quality, cost savings, and increased R&D output.

• Guide and support workstream leaders to ensure successful execution.

• Align with R&D leadership and secure stakeholder buy-in.

• Report regularly to R&D management on progress, milestones, and benefits.

• Collaborate with Portfolio Management & Cluster teams to integrate workstreams.

• Coach (senior) project managers and shape project management excellence.

• People management for your direct reports regarding recruitment and selection, adequate staffing, remuneration, performance appraisals, competence development, and education and training.

You're the right fit if:

• You have a Master or PhD in Engineering or a related field.

• You bring 10+ years of experience in R&D project/program management in high-tech, regulated industries.

• You have experience as a people leader managing direct reports

• You have led large-scale transformation programs with measurable business impact.

• You excel at stakeholder management and leadership in a global, matrixed environment.

• You have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies (SAFe, Lean).

• You are both a strategic thinker and hands-on leader, able to balance vision with execution.

• You are experienced in mentoring project managers and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
