The Director of Development/Recruitment Specialist is responsible for managing alumni relations and events, as well as routine communication with our alumni. This position will manage development and fundraising activities for the SOP. This position will engage with current students to build relationships prior to their graduation, as well as assisting with the recruitment of prospective incoming students with travel being sometimes required.

  • Develop an annual plan for alumni engagement, activities, and communications.
  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and activities. This could include organizing donation drives, charity auctions, or benefit concerts, among others.
  • Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, and alumni to create engaging fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies to raise awareness of the school’s mission and engage with stakeholders.
  • Cultivate relationships with pharmacy school alumni to encourage donations and participation in fundraising efforts.
  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Write compelling grant proposals to secure funding for specific projects or initiatives.
  • Create promotional materials (brochures, newsletters, social media posts) to highlight fundraising goals and progress.
  • Monitor fundraising budgets, allocate resources effectively, and track expenses related to fundraising activities.
  • Oversight of alumni management and communication.
  • Provide leadership, communication, oversight, and coordination of activities for School of Pharmacy alumni.
  • Provide leadership to conceptualize, plan, and manage events for alumni gathering at local, state, and national meetings, as well as other gatherings related to SOP alumni engagement.
  • Manage a database with alumni contact information, employment information, and other key information.
  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain information from graduating student surveys and other surveys as necessary to the Student Affairs Office.
  • Work with the faculty, staff, and students to develop engagement activities for current School of Pharmacy students outside of the classroom environment.
  • Develop an annual plan for current student engagement, activities, and communications in efforts to build the “Pharmily” concept.
  • Participate in the recruitment of students for the BSPS, MSPS, and PharmD programs.
  • Represent the SOP at Green & White Days, Pre-Pharmacy Club, classroom/school visits.
  • Assist in planning and management of social media content calendar, working in collaboration with the Director of Recruitment and Marketing and the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.
  • In collaboration with SOP administration, faculty, staff, student ambassadors, and select designees, coordinate tours, presentations, high school and college fairs, and other recruitment events as needed.
  • Work with the Director of Recruitment and Marketing to coordinate open houses and other student recruitment events, including college and career fairs at the school.
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding admissions requirements and processes.
  • Maintain contacts with counselors, advisors, and faculty in the recruiting market, in collaboration with the Director of Recruitment and Marketing.
  • Attend training to maintain up-to-date knowledge in job-related functions as needed.
  • Assist with all Student Affairs events and activities as delegated by the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.
  • Other duties as assigned from the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs or the Dean of the School of Pharmacy.
Salary Range $44,918 - $58,393 - Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. Salary Type Salary Time Type Full-Time Work Location MU - Marshall University
