About the Role

Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Director who will assist the Georgia team by leveraging deep knowledge of policy and/or financial expertise in areas such as Medicaid financing and revenue maximization, provider reimbursement (physician, hospital, other), state and federal Medicaid reimbursement policy, healthcare taxes, intergovernmental transfers, and navigating the shift to value-based payment. They are responsible for policy guidance, development of financial estimates, and understanding state and federal reimbursement systems.


The Director is a key member of the client servicing team, helping implement and manage new programs for clients and ensuring a high level of satisfaction. In addition to client servicing, the Director will assist with identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing engagements and participating in sales activities, including attending prospective client meetings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of multiple projects/clients, engagement, priorities, and timelines within assigned Practice while ensuring exceptional client satisfaction; participates in sales, renewals, and extensions.
  • Develop highly complex financial models for external and internal audiences. This may include the development of dynamic models that allow external or internal audiences to manipulate model assumptions to view multiple scenarios; following Medicaid payment principles; calculating federal and non-federal share of Medicaid payments; and statistical testing.
  • Analyze public and private healthcare payer data, with the ability to use publicly available as well as proprietary data; establish and conduct robust quality assurance processes to ensure model accuracy; able to safely manage and transfer client data; adherence to HIPAA; dedicate substantial time to building and maintaining robust financial models to support strategic decision-making as said models contribute to accurate forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee all technical and financial aspects of projects. This includes interfacing directly with external client leadership, state government officials, and other stakeholders. Translate technical information into a format understandable by non-technical stakeholders and showcase technical aspects of solutions to clients and potential clients.
  • Supervise direct reports; provide appropriate mentoring; manage performance feedback, training, and professional development opportunities to help individuals grow.
  • Directors are required to travel as needed to meet the needs of client servicing and business development. Directors also understand that work may require periodic availability on nights and weekends.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 or more combined years in Medicaid, provider reimbursement and/or in the healthcare consulting industries. Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, economics, mathematics, accounting, or MBA preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: CPA and/or advanced training in actuarial science.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate new and existing federal guidance.
  • Leadership and/or people management skills.
  • Experience working with healthcare data such as claims sets, cost reports, etc.
  • Experience with state Medicaid agencies, CMS or healthcare providers preferred.
  • Experience in Medicaid financing and payments. Extensive practical knowledge and application of Medicaid reimbursement rules.

Other Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; database experience (e.g., SQL) for large datasets preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including relaying complex technical terms in an easy-to-understand manner.
