Senior Database Administrator - DB2 and SQL Server

We are looking to hire Senior DBA a Team member with strong performance tuning experience for both SQL server and DB2.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle data bases in support of the Day-to-Day maintenance, development and installation of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.

• Performance tuning experience is required and will be needed to troubleshoot on going performance issues. Experience analyzing and providing steps to help the development teams correct the issues. In dept knowledge of indexes, query optimization, as well as other key performance tuning concepts.

• Uses available tools and utilities to provide for necessary DBMS maintenance activities: data base reorganizations, backup and recovery, space management, performance and tuning, and change management.

• Assists application developers and other clients with data base usage and software development activities.

• Ensures that all software or systems for which they are responsible are monitored and tuned to ensure acceptable levels of performance and resource utilization, ensures that the software is utilizing all appropriate functions and features, timely and accurate reporting on performance, utilization and feature use as requested.

• Stays current in new IT technologies to maintain high level subject matter expertise.

• Performs installation of complex, clustered and high-availability software and hardware environments in a timely manner in keeping with current release levels.

• Follows and maintains all Corporate Change Control and Audit requirements.

• Creates and maintains schedules for software maintenance and upgrades.

• Researches and provides requirements for software compatibility within organizations Enterprise Architecture.

• Provides technical assistance to Operations, Applications, Business Clients and the Help Desk in order to resolve production schedules or problems.

• Provides 24x7 on call support for assigned systems and software. Uses available resources to research, resolve and recommend solutions for the most complex and critical systems.

• Participates in and contributes to technical discussion within their team and shares their technical expertise to other activities.

• Communicates between key IT groups and the customer community via participation in meetings and the creation of status reporting mechanisms (weekly, monthly, and quarterly).

• Participates in organization Enterprise-Wide technology projects for most complex and critical technologies.

Requirements:

• Requires experience as a DB2 Database Administrator and SQL Server Database Administrator. Experience with Oracle and AWS is preferred as well.

• Expert in performance tuning and utilizing available toolsets to not only analyze root cause but also give recommendations to correct performance issues.

• RDS and MongoDB Database Administration experience are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency:

• Proficient with SQL performance and tuning Advanced.

• High-level of analytical and troubleshooting skills Advanced.

• In-depth knowledge of DB2, MS SQL Server and similar databases technologies.

• Knowledge of structured query language (SQL) Advanced.

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $73,100 - $135,700.
