Job Summary
The Senior Procurement Specialist acquires goods and services for Grady Health System. Provides a wide range of buying and procurement support functions to assure completion of daily procurement transactions which include order entry, placement, confirmation and expediting; EDI, GHX transactions; accounts payable interface; and first line customer support. Ensures the attainment of pricing at lowest cost consistent with approved quality and delivery standards while adhering to policy. Acts as an authorized agent for the organization. Ability to make independent decisions while in adherence to the established Procurement Policy. Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain the best overall value for products and services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as the first-line customer service contact for GHS facilities.
Performs QA of all orders to assure execution of 100% PeopleSoft 9.2 order release.
Assists Supply Chain and Department Leaders in establishing business processes that maximize the efficiency of daily
Procurement operations across all GHS facilities.
Maintains understanding of contracts within assigned grouping at a level that enables incumbent to answer routine customer service questions to product sources, pricing, ordering requirements etc.
Collaborates with Supplier Diversity for inclusion of diverse suppliers in the sourcing process.
Liaisons with Accounts Payable department at GHS to assure resolution of purchase order/receiving/invoicing discrepancies
by appropriate personnel.
Performs analysis of cost proposals/competitive bids and any other Procurement documents as assigned.
Facilitates/leads morning procurement huddle meetings and communicates and/or escalates issues for resolution.
Enters and places purchase order via PeopleSofl ERP Platform.
Performs QA on orders to help assure accuracy and
contract compliance.
Remains informed of developments relative to supplies and equipment; and makes recommendations designed to reduce
costs and improve methods.
Works with vendors and GHS requestors to resolve daily order issues/discrepancies (i.e., pricing, backorders, etc.).
Complies and reviews EDI, GHX purchase order confirmation and distributes exception information to all appropriate.
Performs purchase order expediting to assure timely delivery of goods and services and to assure appropriate closing of
completed orders in MMIS
EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or any combination of education or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Five (5) or more year's procurement experience
Knowledge of requisition policies and procedures.
Must be computer literate and have knowledge of computerized
spreadsheets, word processing data base management.
