Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Manager, Infection Control-Clinic.

Position Status: Full-time, Days

Standard Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5:00pm (EST)

This position is on-site and must be able to travel to all 12 of our Sentara Hospitals:

  • Sentara Albemarle Medical Center

  • Sentara Obici Hospital

  • Sentara Princess Anne Hospital

  • Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital

  • Sentara Leigh Hospital

  • Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

  • Sentara Careplex Hospital

  • Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center

  • Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center

  • Sentara Marth Jefferson Hospital

  • Sentara RMH Medical Center

  • Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's level degree in Microbiology, Epidemiology, Nursing, or related field

  • 3 years of experience in Healthcare and Infection Prevention & Control

  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required within 1 year of eligibility. 

Job Description:

Supports executive, administrative and clinical (i.e. medical and nursing) staff leadership, and clinical and operational staff with initiatives to improve quality, prevent healthcare associated infections and ensure mandatory compliance with infection control, prevention, reporting and education. Provides direct-line management of divisionally-assigned Infection Preventionist (i.e. hospitals, medical groups, Enterprises). Supports hospital and other divisional leadership by ensuring assigned Infection Preventionist (IPs) are trained, competent, and informed of all infection prevention and control competencies and expectations, and regulatory and accreditation standards/requirements. Directly accountable for ensuring IPs are meeting system and divisional IPC performance expectations related to healthcare acquired infections (HAIs), communicable disease prevention and control (e.g. disease-specific, PPE, isolation, epidemics, etc.). Supports the mandatory reporting of infections to CMS which impacts the system's publicly reported programs such as CMS pay for performance programs, Anthem Q-Hip, and other incentive/penalty programs. This position is responsible for managing/overseeing/supporting specific system infection prevention and control performance/process improvement projects/activities.
