Utah Connections Academy (UCA) is a tuition-free, online public school that serves students in grades K–12 throughout Utah. UCA is authorized under state law by the Utah State Charter School Board and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Utah Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Utah, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. UCA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, the Northwest Accreditation Commission, and the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), which are accrediting divisions of Cognia.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
Working from the school office in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Special Populations Administrative Assistant will be a part of an energetic and thriving team community. There may also be opportunities to work from your home office in addition to the school location. An online school has an environment conducive to supporting the various needs of teachers, administrators, students, and parents – all while being part of an organization that will value and support you. The Special Populations Administrative Assistant will be instrumental in supporting the Special Populations Department. This position has a strong potential for learning and opportunities for career growth.
Responsibilities:
- Entering data into the school information system
- Student record management including obtaining signatures and physical filing
- Generating reports
- Answering questions from schools, families, and students
- Scheduling meetings and venues for SPED (Special Education) and ELL (English Language Learning)
- Assist with state assessments, progress monitoring, screening, and benchmark testing
- Assisting the Director of Special Populations with a wide variety of daily responsibilities; and
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be able to report to the office in Salt Lake City, UT; Work location may be flexible between home/office
- Must be able to collaborate and work well in a strong team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Forward-thinking problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both oral and written
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Customer focused approach
- High degree of flexibility
- Experience in SPED is preferred but not necessary
- Ability to learn and research state and federal laws, policies, and regulations
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication
