As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will supervise a group of technicians in day-to-day execution of critical avionics component assembly, cleaning, and testing.  This position will be responsible for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Morale.

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Avionics Fabrication Team, including developing resource plans and profiles, authorizing job descriptions, conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, assigning tasks, and conducting performance reviews. 

  • Interface with area managers to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals. 

  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications. 

  • Develop and implement cost reductions processes and efficiency improvement measures. 

  • Implement and refine new manufacturing processes. 

  • Work with engineering to document and standardize production processes. 

  • Collaborate with engineering to develop production ready manufacturing approach. Review work instructions and provide recommended changes where necessary. 

  • Assure continued training and skills development to attract, develop, and retain great people. 

  • Setup new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup, etc. 

  • Assist with transition from development to production by working alongside engineering to successfully transition the product. 

  • Forecasting and developing recovery plans for constraints critical to vehicle delivery schedule. 

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency. 

  • Responsible for forging a vision of a better future, strategizing on Blue Origin’s direction, and motivating your team to achieve Blue Origin’s overarching objectives by training, planning, directing, delegating, and monitoring success.  

  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must have high school diploma or GED. 

  • Minimum of 5 years in a direct manufacturing position, working on aerospace programs or production lines heavily involving a range of manufacturing methods and techniques, in both leadership and hands-on roles; experience on aerospace production programs a plus. 

  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures. 

  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities 

  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc. 

  • Minimum of 5 years with harsh environment cable harness assemblies including power, signal, fiber optic, and high data rate cables

  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools:  LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aerospace avionics/harnessing or related fields. 

  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills in English 

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. 

  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools:  LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or
