Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Global Services (BGS) has an exciting opportunity for an Authorized Individual (AI) who has the Jurisdiction and Classification Determination Authority. This position as part of the BGS Core Engineering People and Talent team, is responsible for enabling projects to increase our Global Diversity by coordination with BGS Engineering leadership to acquire, develop, and retain top engineering talent across the world.  Export classifications are required before exporting an item to ensure that the proper export authorities are in place. The accurate, consistent export jurisdiction and classification determination of items is essential for compliance with the United States Export Control Reform (ECR) initiative. In support of ECR and in accordance with BPI-4605 (Export Jurisdictional and Classification Determinations), the Authorized Individual (AI) certification was created. The role of the AI is to classify products using ECR Framework, Jurisdictional Classification Determinations (JCDs) and record their determinations in a central repository known as the Export Determinations Recording Tool (EDRT). This individual must be registered and completed the Order of Review Training. An AI is a Boeing title and not an U.S. Government title or Industry title. Accurately identifying the jurisdiction and classification of an item is the first step in the Export Life Cycle, and the basis of export authority decisions and foundation of Global Trade Control compliance.

This position will require strong technical collaboration with the Boeing Engineering community, Global Trade Control Specialists, Program Export Integration, and other Export Control Authorized Individuals in support of U.S. Federal export control jurisdiction and classification determination related to Boeing Product Standards. Engagement with technical partners across the range of product support and sustainment disciplines is important to success in this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate in long term global strategy development with BGS leadership

  • Review engineering data and documentation to assign export jurisdiction and classification determinations

  • Develop communication related to export compliance

  • Develop and provide input to the development and update of processes and procedures in support of export compliance within the organization

  • Provide recommendations for the development of guidance in order to implement revised regulations in current business practices

  • Support the development of solutions to a variety of complex export problems

  • Contribute to the implementation and completion of organization projects and goals

  • Interact with stakeholders to resolve requests in a timely manner

  • Apply project management skills to lead or support global engineering projects

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

  • 3+ years of experience with Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • Must be able to self-classify as an Authorized Individual

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, or foreign equivalent

  • Experience managing export control initiatives, such as global work packages

  • Experience with Export Regulations and Global Trade Control requirements

  • Experience with technical writing and editing

  • Experience collaborating across multi-discipline engineering teams

  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding targets goals and strong skills in project execution

  • Ability to makes sense of complex issues and communicate information simply

  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations to executive level management
