The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking Production Engineering – Phantom Works Tooling Engineer located in Berkeley, MO.

Position Overview: As a Tooling Engineer, you will evaluate program and project requirements to develop complex equipment and tooling concepts. You will analyze technical data to assess the impact on product engineering design and rate estimates, while also identifying opportunities for robotics, automation, and system integration. Your role will ensure compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, and regulatory requirements.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate, Experienced and Senior Level Tooling Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the evaluation of program and project requirements, develops moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System

  • Compile and analyze technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates for equipment and tooling. Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements

  • Validate contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares

  • Conduct training for Production and Maintenance personnel

  • Develop and implement moderately complex work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation

  • Support studies for disposition of assets

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • (Level 2) 2+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or work related engineering experience with a Master’s

  • (Level 3) 5+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or 3+ years of work related engineering experience with a Master’s or work related engineering experience with a PhD

  • (Level 4) 9+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or 7+ years of work related engineering experience with a Master’s or 4+ years of work related engineering experience with a PhD

Typical Education/Experience: 

(Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
